Time to change it up again! Baby Babe was ditching the family room and headed to other areas of the house to explore so I refreshed her shelf with some fun Halloween inspired items to keep her engaged.
Before I switched out her toys I took note of what she has been interested in. She has been loving digging through the diaper bag and emptying out bags. She is also very interested in climbing on furniture and reading her books out loud.
observing her playing without interfering
Sometimes I bring out all of her toys and dump them on the floor. I set aside whatever I don’t want out and start grouping items that go together or fit a theme that she’s interested in. She loves romping in the toys. Our dog had to help with this latest toy update! haha 😛
contents of the tote bag
I filled the tote bag with items that she can pull out to play with. The empty DVD cases were about to go into the trash, but she loves to point out objects and “Haba” (Elmo) so I kept them for her to play with. She has been reading “Pooh’s Halloween Parade” which I added to the shelf so her Pooh lovey was a fun addition, and perfect for peekaboo. I also included a ruler from my desk, a small board book and her flashcards. She’s going to be a lion for Halloween so I thought it would be fun to look at the lion page and practice roaring!
the perfect reading nook
Her collapsable play tunnel fit under her shelf without taking up lots of space like her plastic tunnel does. The wooden bowl is her “treasure bowl” and is only filled with items that we explore together.

She is having so much fun with these items, I think they will last past Halloween! Before long we will be gearing up for Thanksgiving and Christmas themes! Cheers to the beginning of the holiday season!
