If you’ve been keeping up with our toy transformation you know that one of our goals is to switch out the noisy, flashy, plasticy toys in the family room for more natural materials that look beautiful and well thought out…. Well, we just got a new flashy toy! lol 😛
My Pal Violet (made by Leap Frog) is a plush puppy that you plug into your computer and program with with your child’s favorite things. After you set it up the puppy sing songs with your child’s name, favorite color, favorite animal, and favorite food. It also comes in a green version called My Pal Scout. It has a cute little kid voice and lots of fun songs. The flashy part of the puppy is the bone on it’s collar which lights up when it sings and it changes colors depending on what color it’s singing or talking about.
We bought My Pal Violet because I had heard great reviews from my mommy friends and I like that the recommended age group is 6- 36 months. My friend said that her son still had fun playing with his Scout when he was about 4 years old! So far we are happy with our purchase. Sometimes Violet gets bulldozed and squashed but I do think she will be enjoyed for a while. As far as the toy transformation goes, I’m finding that it’s all about balance. I want to be able to have an interesting variety of toys, textures, and learning materials. If Violet feels out of place in the family room she can just hang out in the toy library for a while.Share it!
