a backup bag that can save you in the most unexpected moment.
A few weeks ago we were hiking pretty high up in the mountains in Rocky Mountain National Park. We had a lovely picnic and before we headed home I went to change Baby Babe’s diaper…. I had NO diapers! I was scouring the visitor center parking lot for moms with babies that I could bum a diaper off of but the only baby I saw was a newborn. Then I checked my glovebox and I had a diaper that I had stashed years ago in case of emergency while I was working as a nanny. Time to update my “Oops Bag” with fresh things that suit not only my baby, but me too!
There are some items that I keep in my car at all times:
- Ergobaby carrier
- Shopping cart/ high chair cover
- Hand sanitizer and hand wipes
- Fleece blanket
I use these items regularly so it’s easier for me to just keep them in the car.
In my tote bag I keep these “emergency” items. In the worst case scenario, I might need these if we got stranded due to a blizzard or something but I mostly plan on having this back up kit for times that I forget something or have a change in plans.
- Bottled water
- Baby Outfit: frees up diaper bag clutter to keep it in the car.
- Baby snack: pouch, crackers, fruit cup.
- Mommy Snack: Kind Bars or Kashi bar
- Amy’s Black Bean soup: I know from my backpacking experience that this soup is actually pretty good straight out of the can.
Hopefully we will never need the emergency items, but I have broken into my stash for a snack a few times.
Are there any items that you always keep in your car? I feel like I’m always loading the car with my hands full so if you have any ideas for my stash please let me know!Share it!
