Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away! It will be Baby Babe’s first Thanksgiving and I’m really looking forward to it. We are starting some new traditions this year, including the Turkey Trot 5K. I think Baby Babe will look very festive in her tutu.
I made a Christmas tutu last year when Baby Babe was only a few weeks old. Tutus are really easy and inexpensive to make, it just takes time. Since I have made one before I felt like I had the hang of it and I didn’t waste any time.
no sew materials: crochet baby headband, scissors, oatmeal container, roll of tulle and 1/3 yard of each color tulle
I recommend not measuring or trying to cut perfectly straight lines. I think having various lengths adds to the puffiness of the tutu. I just cut all of the tulle to about the same size by laying it over this plastic pan lid that I have saved for crafting. Finally that lid came in useful after years in my craft closet! lol
Then I took the tulle strips and looped them through the headband. I used an empty oatmeal container to hold the headband.
I spaced out the green, orange, yellow and red in the back and filled in all of the glittery brown from each side of the colorful “feathers”.
I was actually able to finish this project during Baby Babe’s afternoon nap! She will be wearing it to the Thanksgiving Day 5K. I think she will be the cutest little turkey in town! 🙂
